If you are looking for a new baseball glove for your child, there are some factors that you will need to take into consideration before you purchase your glove. On your journey to finding the correct baseball glove, the type of mitt you need will be determined by a few different things, such as: age, position, budget, size and how long you plan on using it.
When choosing a baseball glove for your kid, you want to make sure that the glove fits correctly. The biggest mistake that you can make when selecting a baseball mitt is to purchase a mitt that is too big in hopes that your son or daughter will grow into it. This can leave your son or daughter struggling to use his or her baseball glove. It would be much better for you to get a cheaper, smaller mitt, than it would be for you to get an expensive, larger one. Depending on your child's age, he or she could, possibly, be growing for a long time. Therefore, it does not make much sense to buy your child a permanent glove at a young age.
Generally, youth mitts range from 8"-12". If your child is under 8 years old, you would be wise to get him or her a glove no larger than 11". It is important to know that a mitt is going to function much better once it has been broken in. On the other hand, if it is clear that the glove is not comfortable, or your child cannot handle it correctly, have them try on another one.
Take into note that these children are young and still adapting to the game. It is not possible that a glove will make them an all-star. It is only through hard work and practice that they will be able to achieve a high skill level.
